Week one of the beautiful advent season... One candle lit on the advent wreath... The hope candle. The flame dances small but mighty both on the wreath and in our souls. I don't believe it's coincidence that everywhere I turn it seems the 'word of the week' appears. All through the pages of God's… Continue reading A Week of Hope {wonder-full wanderings}

{wonder-full wanderings} at UB
This semester I have seen God do amazing things through the time I have spent at the University at Buffalo campus. Also true: This semester not many things have gone as planned in our work at UB. "Wandering" feels like a pretty applicable word in trying to figure out where God is calling us, specifically… Continue reading {wonder-full wanderings} at UB
Wonder-Full Wanderings
Advent. It is one of my favorite times of the year. A season so full of anticipation that it spills over and I find myself anticipating the season itself. Forcing myself to appreciate each day, I make myself finish Thanksgiving before busting out the Christmas tree and advent wreath, but as soon as it's over,… Continue reading Wonder-Full Wanderings
Why I Do What I Do – In Two Pictures
Flipping through a publication quick today to see if there was anything of value to read, this page caught my eye: How true and how sad it is that this really is what "the world" communicates. The very next page, though, was this: And in two pictures, I was reminded why I… Continue reading Why I Do What I Do – In Two Pictures
a weary world… presses on
One step in front of the other. That's the way I got through a weary day recently. Looking back, it reminded me of a story of Gideon and his army in the book of Judges. In chapter 7, we see this crazy experience of amazing trust as Gideon follows God's instructions that ends up taking… Continue reading a weary world… presses on
a weary world… rests
AUTHOR'S NOTE: As soon as I hit "publish" on Tuesday's post (A Weary World... Rejoices) suddenly many other phrases came to mind of responses to our weary world, most of them from Scripture... and thus, a blog series was born. Join me in the coming days to explore our weary world. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This past Sunday… Continue reading a weary world… rests
A weary world…rejoices
Sometimes a good day starts with a simple choice before you even get out of bed that it's going to be a good day no matter what happens. This past week has been one in which sin and its impact on the world has been making itself very clear. From personal issues all the way… Continue reading A weary world…rejoices
A Little Bit of Heaven on Earth
A few weeks ago I was talking with a friend of mine about some advice his parents had given him: "Live now on earth as if you're already in heaven." Because eternal life doesn't have to wait until earthly death, we can experience the joy and power and peace of heaven while still in the… Continue reading A Little Bit of Heaven on Earth
Colored Pencils, Giggles, and Jesus {God-sighting Saturday}
Occasionally I use some colored pencils to mark some things in my Bible. I don't really take them with me because I figure that I can always just use a pen or at work I have colored pencils. Yesterday especially, with it being such a busy day going from one thing to the next to… Continue reading Colored Pencils, Giggles, and Jesus {God-sighting Saturday}
One More Step
Vacation was awesome. Coming back from vacations are often difficult. Thankfully, this one wasn't as bad as I potentially expected it could be heading into a busy week. Tuesday was a super busy day but I think that helped keep me focused on the tasks at hand. Wednesday though we hit the "theres-so-much-to-do-but-can't-figure-out-what-to-do-so-I-just-won't-do-anything" phase full… Continue reading One More Step
